How to use Loco Translate
The help pages in this section explain various aspects of the Loco Translate WordPress plugin.
- New users should read what it does first;
- The beginner's guide provides a workflow example;
- Seasoned translators may want to read the technical overview.
Using Loco Translate generally involves one or more of the following steps:
Configuring your bundle
Not every theme and plugin out there is ready for translation. If you're lucky and your bundle includes everything Loco needs then you won't need to worry about this. We know from experience that in a lot of cases Loco Translate needs you to give it some clues.
Creating templates
If you're developing your own theme or plugin you'll need to create a translation template. If you're translating someone else's work then hopefully they've provided you with a template. Either way, it'll help to understand how templates work and why they exist.
Translating phrases
This is the main jumping in point if you just want to add some custom translations to a theme or a plugin.
