RBI regulations causing monthly payments to fail

Loco subscriptions rely on recurring auto-debits in order to keep your account payments up to date. When automatic debits fail, customers in India will have to log in to their Loco dashboard in order to make payment "manually".

Via our card payment provider (Stripe) we're able to handle various customer authentications such as 3D Secure, but in many cases we're simply unable to charge cards issued by banks in India. This page contains all the advice we're able to give on the matter.

How to make a manual card payment

At any time you can view the status of your current subscription at the following link: https://localise.biz/account/plan

Authorize a payment

Clicking "Authorize payment" will invoke Loco's Strong Customer Authentication process. This will work only if the card-issuing bank supports a compatible authentication SCA method.

We've found that this process regularly fails with Indian banks and we are not given a reason why. If this fails, please try re-entering your card details instead.

Enter card details again

To make a payment with the card holder "present" you can re-enter your same card details. This will retry any pending payments as soon as your card is updated, but you must have a due invoice at the time.

To do this: Go to the change card tab of the Billing Activity page and enter the same card details as previously, or a new one if you prefer. This will begin a new authorization process and settle any outstanding payments if the banks allows.

Switching to an annual plan

You can switch to to annual billing as long as no outstanding payment for your existing subscription is currently due. If resolving payment problems on a monthly basis is proving problematic, this will at least provide a year's grace by which time the situation may be different.

To do this: click any link to change your current plan. At the bottom of the modal window you will see a link that says "Pay annually".

Manual payments failing

If you've tried all methods listed above and are unable to pay by credit or debit card, then we cannot offer you a Loco subscription. You will have to arrange billing via another card issuer that either allows auto-debits, or is compatible with our SCA integration.

We do not currently provide any alternative billing methods for customers in India.

What are we doing to resolve this?

We're waiting for a permanent solution from our payment provider (Stripe) who say they are "working on releasing new APIs to enable off-session payments in some cases". In the interim we expect more Indian banks to start adopting the payment authorization methods that we already have in place.
